Something I don't understand when talking with conservatives

There is generally agreement that the insiders, big companies, etc control politicians, rig regulations to their benefit, etc..... it's clear the lockdowns have destroyed small business and boosted the Fortune 500.

Yet.... when the topic of wealth redistribution comes up they all revert back to the libertarian brainwashing on economics and "socialism reeeeeeeee"

If you think their wealth is ill-gotten why the hell are you defending that wealth so hard? We need MASSIVE wealth redistribution in America.

So you would rather the government take control and distribute the wealth? Has this covid relief bill or any other bill for that matter taught you anything? The government is corrupt period. Conservatives believe in less government interactions and simple economics like supply and demand. If you put it in the hands of government you can bet your bottom dollar they will enrich themselves and their friends while everyone else gets the shaft.

They already do dummy. They've so solidly propagandized you into this "government vs freedom" and anything other than total corporate oligarchy being "socialism" that you'll gladly hand over your society to the Fortune 500. Conservatives are the stupidest people only because they should have IQ's high enough to see reality.

    Socialism doesn't work.

If you disagree, show me where it has worked.

What makes you think that if you were successful in electing politicians to confiscate wealth that they would actually confiscate wealth based on the merit or lack thereof when they do so? Based on pretty much every time it's ever happened anywhere, it will just be a might makes right situation. Usually the people that rise to the top of those type situations are pretty evil because that's helpful in their rise to the top. Very rarely do you have somebody risk their life and the lives of their families to fight to the top just to be a benevolent dictator.

There is a ton of crony capitalism in the US today, and we would be better off if we cut it out, but the system still largely works. We are not to a point where it's worth burning it all down. We probably can't do reform because we lost the education system, and we'll never have a voting populace sophisticated enough to appreciate free markets, but we can potentially chug along for quite a while before we get to the burn it all down point.

The funny thing is, most of these big businesses are in bed with demoncrats. Republicans are just as bad too. We had a guy that everybody hated because he wasn't bought off so they tried to slander him at every turn. I knew he was the man for the job when republicans and demoncrats hated him. His name is Donald J. Trump. Best president of our time.
